CLOSED, Oldenburg, Interior Design

For international fashion label Closed, PHILIPP MAINZER OFFICE FOR ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN was commissioned to design the brand’s new store in Oldenburg. The 157 sqm space integrates with multi brand store Du Nord, also designed by the office, into a 373 sqm fashion and lifestyle destination in the heart of the city’s old town.

The interior and its high concrete ceilings reveal an impressive modern space arranged in a composition of intriguing presentation forms and spaces for men and women rendered in an original mix of colours and materials. Preserving the industrial character of the space, a thin black lighting system is silhouetted against the raw concrete as an informal contrast to the solid oak floor radiating warmth. Emphasising the authentic yet innovative character of the Closed brand, high-grade materials such as oak, bronze and marble have been combined into a modern and progressive interior concept.

Since 2004, PHILIPP MAINZER OFFICE FOR ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN has collaborated with Closed in creating a progressive and identifiable brand architecture for the label. This includes the design and realisation of all Closed retail stores, showroom spaces as well as numerous international exhibition stands for the brand.
